Travel to Europe

Spread the love

The first time I traveled to Europe was in 2004. I was still in high school. My mom felt it was important for my siblings and I to travel at least once. I can still vividly remember sitting at the German embassy, waiting for our visas to be approved. Back then, I did not know much about the process. However, I knew how big of a deal it was to be able to travel out of your country, when you are just a high school student. Traveling to Germany that summer of 2004 opened my teenage eyes to so many realities: first, people tend to like you better when you try to speak their language. Second, people have a different concept of what happiness is. Third, food tastes different on the other side! Come to think of it, that was when I developed the travel bug. I wanted more. I wanted to seek more, to see more, to do more.

Today, when I think of Europe, I think of the word “Darling”. This continent is so dear to me because I had a lot of firsts: first overseas travel experience, first time taking a plane, first time speaking a different language (other than English and French), and first time experiencing a real culture shock.  And there is so much more to Europe travel that a few pages on a website would not suffice to describe. Let me still share my insight and adventures with you, hoping that it would inspire you to travel, too.

Why You Should Travel to Europe (What makes Europe Unique)

The majority of european countries share undeniable similarities. However, they are different, individually unique. Generally speaking, Europe is an excellent destination for short-stay travel and quick getaways because most european cities are very walkable (yes, the Europeans love to walk)! So, it is no surprise that you can actually do a lot of self-guided itineraries for Rome, Brussels, Paris or Geneva. Moreover, Europe my go-to destination for fine cuisine (and fine wine), as well as for medieval architecture that is simply out of this world. Finally, a lot of countries in Europe still share that spirit of “community”, which you can feel when you go to farmers markets and local festivals.
