Maverick City Music Tour: A Unique Worship Encounter

Maverick City Music Tour 2022 Concert in Toronto Canada

The Maverick City Music Tour 2022 felt like the spiritual uplifting (I didn’t know) I needed. We all have a special album, song or even artist who has gotten us through difficult and trying times in life. For me, one of them was the group Maverick City Music. Million Little Miracles, Promises, and Jireh are a few of many Maverick City Music songs I have had on repeat as part of my daily praise and worship. It’s amazing how music can help us express our deepest self, and put words in our mouth that only our hearts knew. And though being led in praise and worship by an artist is one thing, it’s a completely different experience to see them live, in concert. So when I got the opportunity to attend the Maverick City Music Tour 2022, I said yes. Though initially reluctant, I said… yes.

Reluctant not because I didn’t think it wasn’t worth it, but more so because at this time I did not know it was to be a financial priority. Interestingly, thousands of people had traveled across Toronto and Ontario overall to attend the Maverick City Music Tour 2022, yet for me it didn’t feel like a financial priority… yet. Afterall, they would come again, I told myself. Or they’d have another tour soon. But as I did a 360 rapid analysis of what the past two years had been and how unpredictable days and years can be, I got reminded of one thing: a positive spiritual encounter is not something to delay, and some opportunities are worth grasping as soon as they come.

Getting to the Maverick City Music Tour 2022

My friend Jasmine told me she was traveling from Ottawa to see the concert. That was the quick boost I needed to secure my Maverick City Music Tour 2022 ticket immediately. Besides, it would have been the perfect opportunity to reconnect with Jasmine, whom I had not seen in 4 years and with Joy, another good friend from medical school that I had not seen in at least 6 years. Whew, how time flies when you are living. Yet, another reminder for us to learn how to number our days and our blessings. But this overdue reunion happened in quite interesting circumstances, which to me, only make sense because of God: here we were, reuniting in an intrinsically beautiful city (Toronto), with similar yet different life paths, blessings and goals, without ever having made plans to do so, and this to see Maverick City. Million Little Miracles? This was definitely one of them.

The Maverick City Music Tour 2022 took place at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, located on the grounds of the Ontario Place. The Budweiser Stage is one of the 20+ popular concert venues in Toronto, and has welcomed popular international artists. Being in downtown Toronto, we walked to the Budweiser Stage (about 40 minutes commute). Public transportation (buses and streetcars) are also available, but since we were in a group, walking felt like the right thing to do: besides, we would use that time to reconnect and catch up.

The concert tickets were available from several online concert tickets outlets, including the Maverick City Music website. We purchased ours online on Ticketmaster, and downloaded our passes (with unique barcodes) that were scanned at the security check-in points. Speaking of which, concert venues have specific rules as to what they allow you to bring in with you (in your bags). And at some venues, large backpacks are not allowed. I encourage you to review the criteria of the concert venue you plan to go to before you head there, to avoid carrying prohibited items.

The Maverick City Music Tour 2022 – Concert

I was impressed to see such a huge, vibrant and “millennial” crowd at the Maverick City Music Tour 2022. This was my first live concert experience in North America. People like you and me, and of multiple nationalities, ethnic groups and ages were there. This showed me how much Maverick City Music unites, and how much their message spans across different human-built barriers.

As it’s customary for me to do whenever I attend a concert, I do my homework and learn the music and lyrics! And this was no different for Maverick City Music. Jireh lyrics are engraved in my heart and were glued to my lips, for the song has been a “mover of hearts” worldwide, but also a recurrent praise and worship piece from Maverick City Music. Man of your Word, is also another favorite. Interestingly, I didn’t know the “exact” name of this popular Maverick City Music song until I researched it for my Maverick City Music Tour 2022 vlog! (I know I am not the only one this happens to, right?) All I really knew was “If you say it we believe it!”. Either way, it was a memorable experience to praise and worship with them live.

What I enjoyed the most about the Maverick City Music Tour 2022, was seeing how well attended it was, experiencing the live praise and worship with the group, hearing all my favorite songs from them, enjoying the great music system and acoustics of the venue, and reconnecting with my long time friends.

Live concert experiences should definitely be one of your top things to do in Toronto in the summer. And since you are now considering it (I hope), here are my top tips for ensuring a safe and enjoyable live concert experience (no matter the artist!)

Tips for an Amazing Live Concert Experience!

  1. Book your tickets early: although you can sometimes get great deals on last minute tickets, I’d recommend booking your tickets early especially if it’s an artist you really want to see!
  1. Go with someone: I am a solo traveler at heart, but live concerts are one of those experiences that are more enjoyable with someone else!
  1. Always carry a sweater, shawl or scarf with you: summer nights can be chilly, especially in Toronto. It’s always better to be prepared.
  1. Make sure your electronics are charged and walk with a power bank: just imagine how annoying it would be to try to capture your favorite song, and then your phone battery dies. Or trying to find the directions to your home, and not having enough phone battery!
  1. Vitamins and hand sanitizer are essential: I personally take fruits and/or vegetables everyday, and vitamins regularly. This is part of my plan to boost my immune system. I think this is important when you live in crowded cities, or tend to attend crowded events. And nowadays, a pocket hand sanitizer is essential.
  1. Always have an umbrella in your bag: just like a sweater or scarf, an umbrella is a great  “must have”, especially when you live in Toronto. It can shelter you from the rain… and the sun!
  1. Arrive relatively early: people have different policies on this, but I advise arriving early to avoid the rush. Half an hour before the concert starts is a good aim. If you’re only there for the main act, then aim for half an hour before their performance. Besides, you never know how packed the security and waitlines can be. I really… really like to get my money’s worth!
  1. Listen to the artist’s songs and latest releases: and I always do this! I mean, I wouldn’t want to be the one who doesn’t enjoy herself because she did not know the repertoire! You might not know all the songs, but at least… play them on repeat to be familiar with some! Of course, if it’s your favorite artist, this won’t even be a problem, right?
