This is the Jordan Travel Itinerary I used to spend 10 amazing days in Jordan,  exploring ancient ruins, breathtaking desert landscapes, and rich Middle Eastern culture.

If you had told me that spending 10 days in Jordan was on my bingo card for this year, I would have probably doubted. But when it comes to a bucket list destination, when the time is right, it happens. I recently completed a 10-day trip in Jordan, hosted by the Jordan Tourism Board, and this trip was a trip of many firsts for me: the first time in the Middle East, the first time on Holy land, and the first time going on a group trip that long! 1 week in Jordan is nearly not enough to scratch the surface, but 10 days in the Hashemite Kingdom are a good starting point to discover what makes Jordan so unique, and give you a taste to want to come back. As someone who loves history, culture and adventure, my 10-day trip to Jordan has been one of the best trips I have taken in my life. beyond the breathtaking landscapes that this country has, the deeply rooted religious history (Jordan is holy land) and the culinary experiences beyond this world; Jordan is a country of exceedingly welcoming people. This contributed to making me have an amazing experience on my first trip to Jordan.

So, if you are planning to travel there and spend at least 1 week in Jordan, here is a 10-day Jordan itinerary that will satisfy your cravings for nature, culture, history and culinary delights. But first…

What is Jordan known for?

First, one of the 7 wonders of the world. Petra. The Rose City, Petra, is one of the top tourist attractions in Jordan. It is located in the south of Jordan. Later on in this blog post – or in another, I will breakdown the best things to see and do in the North and the South of Jordan, because trust me – the different regions bring around different landscapes and different activities! And this is important because based on what you want to include in your 10 Day Jordan travel itinerary, you need to know if you want to spend more time in the North or in the South of Jordan.

Apart from the Ancient city of Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World,Jordn is also known for  the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. When you travel to Jordan, you can have the unique experience of floating on the Dead Sea, which is something that I always heard about and LOVED. Jordan is also very famous for the Wadi Rum, its expansive desert that is described in popular literature as vast, echoing, God-like (coined by Lawrence of Arabia). Home to several biblical sites like Mount Nebo (where Moses stood to see the Promised Land led by God), Gerasa (where Jesus casted out demons from a man into a herd of swines),, Bethany (the village where Jesus was baptized), and so many others. Importantly, Jordan also plays a role as a peaceful and stable country in the Middle East. Another aspect that locals and travelers love about Jordan is its hospitality, cuisine, and deep-rooted traditions.

Getting to Jordan: How to Travel to Jordan

I flew from Toronto to New York City (LGA), to Amman (Jordan) and my direct trip segment (New York City – Amman) was about 12 hours. I flew with Royal Jordanian Airlines, and this is what my experience was like. Interestingly, getting to Jordan is actually easier than you think (or, than I used to). And before going on this 10-day trip to Jordan with the Jordan Tourism Board, I used to think flying to Jordan was more complicated than that. But based on the city where you are traveling from, you can actually get direct flights to Amman (the capital city of Jordan), or flights with a layover. Royal Jordanian Airlines is the home airline for Jordan, and operates direct flights to Queen Alia International Airport (the official capital city airport) from a few cities around the world.

Getting to Jordan from the USA:

Royal Jordanian Airlines operates direct flights from:

  •  Chicago,
  • New York City and recently,
  • Washington Dulles Airport (IAD).

Getting to Jordan from Canada:

From the friends in the North, there are direct flights from:

  •  Toronto (Toronto Pearson International Airport), and
  •  Montréal (Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport)

So, if you are traveling to Jordan from the USA or Canada, you can fly to any of these cities to catch your direct flight to Jordan. Because Royal Jordanian Airlines also has a partnership with the One World Alliance group, you can fly to Jordan with layovers from other destinations from around the world – so check out the Royal Jordanian Airlines website to see what your itinerary would look like from different parts of the world.

Now that you know how to travel to Jordan for your upcoming Jordan vacation, here is what a 10-Day Jordan travel itinerary can look like if you love adventure, history, traditions and culture.
